Stage 02, The Awakened White Knight

The story picks up where the first episode left off (see stage 01 for details). Lelouch is pondering on the girl wanted him to do by giving him his new power. A Knightmare suddenly bursts through one of the walls and the pilot, a female, asks what he, a Britannian student, is doing there. She fires a round of warning shots but Lelouch is not fazed. His left eye glows as he tries to command her to get out of the Knightmare. However, the power doesn't seem to work on her at all. Lelouch discovers that he needs to make direct contact with her in order to control her. Lelouch then gives her a fake story, saying he is Alan Spacer and that his father is a duke. He tells her that she checks his ID; he would like her to give him protection. The pilot comes out with a gun, only to fall under Lelouch's trap as he uses his power to make her give him her Knightmare. Time passes as the pilot wakes up from a trance without knowing what happened. With Suzaku, who is obviously not dead as he wakes up to see the man with the purple hair and glasses named Lloyd. He is injured and inside an ambulance that is within Shinjuku Ghetto. We find out that Suzaku's pocket watch saves him. The Lloyd asks him what he knows about piloting Knightmares as Suzaku says that an Eleven cannot become a knight. Suzaku is then given a one of a kind Knightmare, Lancelot.

Back to the previous Glasgow, it is still damaged from the last battle but it continues to attack the army, who is killing any Eleven they see. The young female pilot, Kallen, is ordered to not move by the same man she was contacted by in the last episode. She tells him that she'll act as a decoy while he and the others get everyone out. At the school, where the same girl who called Lelouch earlier, Shirley, is called Lelouch. Lelouch is in the Knightmare and moving around the Ghetto. He asks her to check the news to see if there is anything on Shinjuku. There is nothing except for traffic jams, which tells Lelouch that the army will make an announcement at the end. He hangs up on Shirley after telling her to tell his little sister that he will be late. Lelouch is trying to plan an escape while the Glasglow is discovered by a couple of Knightmares, one of which contains Sir Jeremiah from last episode. Lelouch contacts the pilot using a radio he picked up from one of the dead resistance members. Kallen agrees to work with him despite her suspicions. She is on a railroad track, followed by the Sutherlands (the army's Knightmares), as a train comes towards them head on. Kallen jumps onto the train as Jeremiah's Knightmare stop the train. The other Sutherland is ordered to chase the Glasgow, only to get knocked out by Lelouch's Knightmare, which is hiding in a nearby building. Lelouch proceeds into long range attacks on Jeremiah. Kallen charges in with the Glasgow, forcing Jeremiah to eject.

"The stakes of this game are peoples' lives!"

- Lelouch

Kallen's friends, all part of the resistance, arrive, asking about the transmission (Lelouch). Lelouch contacts them again, as the leader, Ohgi, responds. Lelouch offers the resistance a bunch of Knightmares that are inside the train in exchange for following his orders. He then commands Kallen to stay inside her Glasgow since it is good for disturbance tactics. Scene change to Clovis' vehicle/command station where the general states that the gas capsule is under control and that the girl can be retrieved. Scene change back to the resistance, who are in their new Knightmares. Ougi demands to know Lelouch's name but Lelouch refuses to tell. Instead, he gives them orders to attack. He gives everyone a name of a chess piece. Using Kallen as a diversion, which is obvious to the army, the army becomes mislead and fall into an ambush laid out by Lelouch. Lelouch comments on how the ID signal is a double-edged sword while giving out more orders. The army is losing as they are quickly out manoeuvred by Lelouch's strategy. The Lloyd asks command if he can "make a new troop available" but is quickly denied. Things only grow worse as Clovis breaks formation and sends all his troops towards attacking the Glasgow. Of course, Lelouch had laid his trap and as such, the troops are taken out quickly in one strike. Clovis is terrified as he realizes that Lelouch is better than Toudou. He then asks Lloyd, the purple haired man, if the army could win if they used his toy. Lloyd only tells him to call the toy, Lancelot.

"With this Lancelot I can... do it all at once!"

- Suzaku

Lancelot, the only 7th generation, experimental Knightmare with no ejection system is deployed. Its pilot is Suzaku, who is top class despite only having worked with a simulator. Suzaku launches with full throttle as Lloyd laughs. Lancelot reaches the battle area as he begins to attack the resistance's Knightmares. Lelouch finds that he is losing troops rapidly as Lancelot takes them out with its superior technology. Ironically, Suzaku is fighting to save Lelouch and the girl by destroying all the Knightmares to end the fighting. Suzaku eventually comes across Lelouch's Knightmare and moves to take him out, wanting to take out the commander. Of course, Lelouch is no match for Lancelot and is losing until Kallen jumps in with her Glasgow, only to eject as her old Knightmare cannot match the Lancelot. Lelouch flees during the distraction caused by Kallen but he is quickly followed with Lancelot's fast speeds. Lelouch fires into buildings to slow Suzaku down, causing a woman and her baby to fall down from an apartment. Suzaku pauses to rescue the woman, only to have her flee as soon as he puts her on the ground. Lelouch continues and ejects some distance away. Lancelot starts to return as Lloyd comments on how Suzaku is the perfect part.

Lelouch, who is now dressed as a soldier and approaching Clovis' location. He orders the guard to let him pass using his power. Elsewhere, Kallen is running and meets up with the rest of the remaining resistance in a warehouse of some sort. They have some of the Ghetto's people with them as they complain about their situation. Ougi and Kallen wonder where their mysterious correspondent is as the army sudden knocks there way in with a tank. The troops are about to kill everyone when Clovis suddenly orders a ceasefire.

Clovis, who is sitting on his throne talks to someone as asks what he should next. The other person is Lelouch, who calls Clovis his older brother, and reveals himself as Lelouch vie Britannia. Clovis is shocked as he comments that Lelouch should be dead. The episode ends as Lelouch says, "I have returned your Majesty, in order to change everything."

Rating: 3/5

Comments/Review: I find that their cell phones are pretty neat. They can clip the entire thing to their ear, just like a Bluetooth except that the cell phone doubles as a Bluetooth. Lelouch is such a chess freak... calling his subordinates chess pieces and actually using chess pieces to plan his strategy. Lancelot is awesome and looks a lot batter than a typical Knightmare, although the difference in power between it and the typical Knightmare is alarming. The end of the episode always seem to be cliffhangers so far. -ryaiden
