Stage 07, Attack Cornelia

In the next scene, Cornelia and Lloyd are talking about Lancelot, and the Eleven that pilots it, and then a quick scene change to Euphemia, contemplating her new position and her new duties, and doubting her sister's ideals.
In the meantime, Suzaku is doing his homework in the military area, with Cecil-san helping him. She tells him to go to school, since there's no work to do.
In the clubhouse, Shirley and Kallen are talking. Shirley accuses Kallen of hiding something, and Kallen thinks she knows her double identity. To Kallen's surprise and relief (sorta...) Shirley asks if she's going out with Lelouch. Meanwhile, Millay is talking to her mother on the phone, who is telling her about a marriage interview to rebuild the Ashford family.
Later on, Cornelia is attacking another yet terrorist group, planning to lure out the 'theatrical criminal' Zero. She plans on creating a scene similar to the Shinjuku even in another area, Saitama.
Meanwhile, Lelouch decides to accept Cornelia's 'invitation'. C.C asks what is more important to Lelouch, finding who killed his mother or destroying Britannia? He replies both are the same, and he must destroy the world's ideal of survival of the fittest for Nunnally. He's about to leave to confront Cornelia, but C.C takes out a gun telling him she'll shoot his legs if he goes and dies before their contract if fulfilled. Instead, Lelouch pulls out a gun to his head, and threatens to kill himself. C.C gives in and lets him go.
In Saitama, the massacre has begun. Britannian troops are shooting men, women and children alike, claiming that their crime of not reporting the presence of terrorists was a crime worthy of death. "We will now begin the operation of destroying the Saitama ghetto". Lelouch is enters the fray under the disguise of a Britannian soldier, and uses Geass to steal a Sutherland. He contacts the terrorists in the Saitama area, and performs another Sinjuku act. He orders them around like chess pieces on a board, and manages to give the enemy a scare. Cornelia orders her troops to retreat, and Lelouch mocks how easy it was.
Back at school, Shirley is talking to Suzaku, explaining how she began to start liking Lelouch.
Lelouch, still in his Britannian soldier uniform and Sutherland, blends in with the retreating troops. He tells one of the terrorists to change to his signal to the Britannian signal, a troop way back when everyone else had retreated; Cornelia's troops destroy him. Lelouch gives out more orders to the terrorists, but they don't obey him. Instead they jump out of their Knightmares, surrendering and asking to be spared; instead they're killed in cold blood.
Lelouch is now alone, with all his terrorist allies dead. Cornelia then orders all her soldiers to get out of their Sutherland and show their face. This leaves Lelouch at a loss, there's no way he can show his "Lelouch Vi Britannia" face to everyone, but he can't escape or attack his way through. Lelouch is ordered to open his hatch, but he is saved, when one of the soldiers shouts out "We've seen Zero!"
The figure of Zero is standing high on top of some rubble and is shot at, and falls to his 'death'. Cornelia deducts that pursuing him would be useless, and orders all the people to retreat.
A short while later, Lelouch runs towards where the other Zero fell. The other Zero walks out unscathed, takes of the helmet to reveal C.C, saying that it would be a problem if he would die. She tells him he needs another power to make full use of the Geass. Lelouch needs his own army, one that will obey him, and one that won't lose to Britannia.
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: I personally didn't really like this episode too much. It half of it was just repeating the Shinjuku event (that's the point, but still...). Although, it was a nice change to see Lelouch really struggling. He gets a big slap of realisation that he's not invincible and can't do everything by himself.
