Stage 19, Island of the Gods

Lelouch deducts that he must be on an island close to Shikenijima, as he observes similar flora. Suzaku, having lost his communicator, walks to a waterfall to secure his water source so he can survive. He walks there and sees Kallen bathing, confused, he calls for her. Kallen sees him, and goes on guard, covering herself with her Order uniform. She takes out her pocket-knife, she attacks him, but he easily evades her and pins her to the ground. He asks if she's, Kallen Stadfeld, but she shouts back at him, telling him to not call her by that name.
Since there's no reason to hide it, Kallen tells him that she's a member of the Order. Suzaku replies, telling her he'll arrest her for being a traitor to the Britannian Empire.
With Lelouch again, he's contemplating on what to do. As he's thinking, he turns around, only to find Euphemia staring straight back at him.
Back with Kallen and Suzaku, he has her hands tied behind her back (she has clothes on now) and comments that she doesn't know anything either. Kallen replies that he's in the same situation, and if her comrades live, he'll be the prisoner and that she is definite that Zero and the others will save her. Suzaku asks her who Zero's identity is, Kallen tells him to find out himself, but Suzaku comments that she doesn't know either. She asks how he knows, he replies that he was bluffing and asks why she follows Zero. Kallen tells him again to find out himself.
Meanwhile, Zero has Euphemia at gunpoint. Euphemia calls his name, "Lelouch", and says she hasn't told anyone. He's shocked that she knows, but he takes off his mask, revealing his face to his half sister.
Back on Shikenijima Island, people are searching for Euphemia. Lloyd and Cecil are onboard Avalon, and are talking to Prince Schneizel, who praises Lloyd and his technology. Cecil is stunned that she's talking to such a high person, and falls over. Schneizel kindly presents his hand and introduces himself. Bartley (fat, bald general from before) is also there, and explains that Schneizel saved him. As Schneizel and everyone leave, Lloyd tells Cecil to wait here, as he's going to search for Suzaku using Avalon. Before they leave, Cecil asks who gave that order. Bartley snaps back at her, that it's traitorous to investigate, but Schneizel calmly tells her that he gave the order, and explains that there were priorities and he was counting on a chance that Suzaku would survive.
Lelouch asks Euphemia when she found out, and Euphemia tells him at the Hotel Jacking incident. Euphemia asks how Nunnally is, and Lelouch says she's been living with him, but her body is still the same. He asks her if she knows anything about his mother's murder, but Euphemia replies she doesn't know, but her sister researched a lot on it, since Lelouch's mother, Marianne was Cornelia's idol. Euphemia asks him, if he's Zero Lelouch, and he replies that right now he's the Lelouch she knew. Euphemia smiles of happiness. The moment is ruined when Euphemia's stomach rumbles, and so Lelouch uses his super head skills to set a trap, except for the fact that his meager body can't dig a hole properly.
In the meantime, Suzaku (impressively) catches some fish. He tells Kallen that if she'll help that he'll untie her. Kallen replies stubbornly that she won't fall for the nice-guy thing. Suzaku comments on how different she is from at school.
Lelouch is pathetically worn out, using an excuse that he didn't use steel tools. Euphemia offers to help dig the hole, but Lelouch tells her that he can't let a princess do such tiring things. Euphemia decided to look for fruit, as she leaves, Lelouch tells her to be careful.
Avalon passes over the Order of the Black Knight's submarine. Diethard and Toudou are arguing what to do. Toudou wants to retreat, but Diethard wants to stay and look for Zero. They debate their own ideas and philosophies, Diethard saying that although people have conflicting ideas they follow Zero for a result, while Toudou counters that survival is more important.
C.C. walks in on the conversation, telling them that Zero is alive. Tamaki sarcastically asks if she's a psychic and then insults her. Ougi tells them all to stop it, and that they need to stay outside of Britannia's radar for now. They all agree and get to work.
C.C. walks away, and seems to be conversing with herself, asking questions and commenting to somebody.
Lelouch looks down on the fruit that Euphemia has gathered, slightly annoyed that she found the food and not himself. Kallen and Suzaku have also finished their fish, and Kallen casually lies back exclaiming that she ate way too much. Suzaku comments again on how different she is from school, Kallen asks if he has a problem with that, but Suzaku just says that she's more active and charming. Suzaku asks her to leave the Order of the Black Knights while she still can, and that terrorists who are caught end up poorly. Kallen snaps back, appalled that he had a hidden agenda behind his gentle ways. She tells him that she's leader of Zero's Squadron, and that she's fought him in a Knightmare and she vows to destroy his one day. Suzaku comments that her methods have no future. Kallen shouts back at him, that his future is being a servant too conquerors. She mocks his status, a Britannian citizen, the Knight of the third Princess, and says that the Samurai Kururugi didn't live on as well.
Kallen tells him that she's different, and that she will right the wrongs of the world, and that if she didn't, her brother's death would be in vain.
Suzaku looks down sadly, telling her that he killed his own father, it was not suicide, he killed him with his own two hands.
Lelouch and Euphemia look up at the sky. Euphemia comments on that they used to do it all the time, and that the starts haven't changed. She says it would be nice to go back, and Lelouch agrees.
Suzaku tells Kallen, that Zero is the same as his father, and that he doesn't care if people are bleeding. Kallen snaps at him to face reality, that the current situation isn't peace. Suzaku replies calmly, that he won't give up, and that he knows what the wrong path will bring, emptiness and regret.
Kallen lies down, and asks what her brother's purpose to live was. Suzaku doesn't answer.
Meanwhile, Avalon has landed on Kaminegi Island, the island where everyone would be. He says that they will begin search tomorrow. Schneizel, Bartley and Lloyd stare at something on screen, a cave in the island.
The morning comes, and Suzaku explains to Kallen that he saw a light the last night and walks towards it, while Lelouch and Euphemia do exactly the same thing.
Lloyd, Schneizel and Bartley have entered the cave, and are staring at an ancient artifact, an elevator activated by thoughts, something related to the "Tessera". Bartley and Schneizel explain that artifacts like this have been scattered across the world, and that the areas have been declared forbidden by the royal family, and that invasions could be started due to this. Lloyd asks if they're going to use the incomplete, experimental Gawain's Druid system to unlock the data in these occult areas. Schneizel says that’s why he was summoned, to work on the Gawain.
Lelouch and Euphemia walk up towards the ship area, probably right above the cave. Euphemia asks if their time has ended. Lelouch replies that it can't be helped, and that the knight beside you is useless to the extent where food is a problem. He tells her that Suzaku is her true Knight, but asks her why he chose him.
Lelouch hears some sound; he takes Euphemia behinds a bush and puts on his mask. He sees Suzaku and Kallen walking. He's surprised that the two are together. Euphemia stands up and calls Suzaku's name.
Zero quickly takes Euphemia at gunpoint, whispering her to play along. He tells Suzaku that they'll trade their hostages. Kallen gets a grip on Suzaku, and Euphemia tells Suzaku not to worry about herself. Suzaku overpowers Kallen and rushes to Euphemia's side. Suddenly, a huge Geass symbol appears below them.
Lloyd's readings are going off the chart, and the cave starts collapsing. The platform where Zero, Euphemia, Kallen and Suzaku are falls in front of them. Zero and Kallen are outnumbered, but they spot a Knightmare and decide to use it. Zero rushes to the Knightmare, while Kallen holds off some of the guards. Suzaku, for some reason is in shock. Zero runs the Knightmare, which happens to be empty and already running. He sees Schneizel, and is shocked to see the face of his half elder brother. He snaps back, and tells Kallen, now onboard of the outside of Gawain, to hang on, as he blasts through the Sutherlands. To Kallen's shock, Zero opens out Gawain’s "Wings" and lets it fly towards safety.
Bartley is upset that Gawain’s been stolen, but Schneizel says its fine, since its just a test model. He turns to Euphemia and Suzaku, kindly meeting Euphemia. As for Suzaku though, he is arrested with a second-degree offence.
Kallen and Zero are flying over the sea, Zero tells Kallen that the Guren is fine, and they'll meet everybody at sea. He turns to his thoughts, apologising to Suzaku in hid mind. It is revealed that in the previous episode, Lelouch used Geass on Suzaku, telling him to Survive.
The next scene shows a sound only screen, with somebody asking Suzaku what he was doing. Suzaku replied that he doesn't care, and that he must survive.
A General tells Suzaku that he lost the rare chance to kill Zero. Suzaku is shocked, as he doesn't remember a thing.
Meanwhile, Cornelia has just heard about the Suzaku incident. But she's interrupted by her Knight Guilford, who reports that the bride at the Kyuushuu block has been destroyed. Cornelia is shocked, but Guilford continues. The sea area is being assaulted by torpedo boats. Cornelia asks if it's the Chinese, but Guliford replies that the ships hold the Japanese flag.
Rating: 4.5/5
Comment: Great episode, interesting conversations between Kallen and Suzaku, and Lelouch and Euphemia (although I wasn't happy with Lelouch's acceptance of Euphemia's knight D: I wanted him to say "SCREW YOU NUNNALLY SHOULD HAVE SUZAKU AS A KNIGHT NOT YOU" but oh well). Plus its the first episode where Schneizel makes a big appearance. Gawain is awesome too. But by far, the best bit in the episode, was when Kallen called Euphemia a useless doll piece of shit princess. Not exactly those words, but oh well ^^;; - emily
