Stage 22, Bloodstained Euphie

"What would the world think if you shot Zero here? I would become a martyr and your popularity would plummet."
- Zero
Euphemia asks what he's talking about, since they're supposed to create Japan together. Lelouch says that something supported by only the upper people, then he would be the same as Clovis. Lelouch says that people believe in Zero being able to bring miracles, they don't want reason, they're weak to miracles. Suddenly, Lelouch's Geass eye starts hurting.
Outside, C.C has come out from the cockpit and is facing Suzaku. C.C is about to ask him a question, when her eye starts hurting as well. The symbol on her head starts to glow and she kneels on the ground in pain. Suzaku runs towards her and grabs her shoulders, asking her what's wrong. He suddenly goes to the Geass-like trances, where he starts seeing scenes, one of them being an image of Empress Marianne, Lelouch's mother. Suzaku falls to the floor, having fainted. Security runs over, and grabs C.C, asking her what she did. She turns around, and all of them go into the Geass state.
Euphemia rushes towards Lelouch, and he just tells her to back off, that he doesn't need her pity, all while his Geass eye is still going. He shouts her name, Euphemia Li Britannia, but at the sound of her name, she tells him she's given up on that name. She tells him that she will give up her role as a noble. Lelouch asks if he's doing it for himself, Euphie replies that she's doing it for Nunnally, and that she hasn't given up on her most important thing. Lelouch asks her what about Cornelia, but Euphemia replies that they'll still see one another.
Lelouch tells her that she's a big idiot. Euphie says that it's true that she never once beat Lelouch in any games or studies. Lelouch tells her that despite her reckless methods, that in the end she was able to gain everything; that even before she was a Princess or a Vice-Governor, she was always just "Euphie." Euphie then asks "If I'm just Euphie" ... will you work with me?" Lelouch comments that "To me, you're my worst enemy" and shakes her hand with a sheepish smile, telling her that she's won.
Euphie asks if he thought she would actually shoot him. He tells her no, but if he seriously gives an order, nobody can disobey it. Then he gives the examples of "Shoot me, and dismiss Suzaku (as a Knight)." Euphie comments that Lelouch is full of weird jokes.
Lelouch then says that "It's true. For example, if I told you to kill the Japanese, there would be nothing you could do about it." Euphemia' eyes go into a Geass influenced state and falls to the ground trying to resist the Geass, telling herself that she doesn't want to kill them. She then gets up.
"You're right. We need to kill the Japanese."
- Euphemia
Lelouch is in disbelief, that he couldn't control the Geass; that he has become like Mao. He tries to get Euphemia to forget the order, but she takes his gun and runs outside.
Meanwhile, Schneizel is talking to Bartley, telling him that he'll return to the mainland soon. Bartley comments that the subject is still here, referring to Jeremiah in the orange tank. He asks to send the subject over, and also the relics in Kaminejima after peace has been restored. He says he must thank Euphemia as peace will be restored thanks to the Special Administration Region.
Meanwhile, Euphemia runs outside the stadium with a gun still in her hand. She asks all the Japanese people to die. Murmurs are in the ground, thinking she's joking. Zero runs outside, and see Suzaku collapsed on the floor. Mean while, Euphemia tells the Japanese that if they can't die, then could all the soldiers kill them?
"All of the Japanese! I have one wish! Could you all die?"
- Euphemia
Darlton orders to stop the broadcasting, and as Zero runs towards Euphie, he sees her use the gun and freely shoot a man in the audience. Darlton asks her what she's doing, but she just shoots him in the gut. She then proceeds to ask everyone of Britannia to kill the Japanese. Suzaku awakes to chaos, as a massacre of the Japanese commences. He orders everybody to stop, but a soldier in a Knightmare replies that it was Euphemia's order.
Zero rushes and shouts to Euphemia to stop, among the dead and dying bodies of the Japanese as Euphemia continues to mindlessly kill with a machine gun. Somebody close to death clutches Zero, telling him that he's Japan's saviour and hope. He tells her to stop, that he's no messiah, and asks to nobody in particular, that will he have to carry this curse.
"Do you want me to carry this curse, to redeem this sin?"
- Zero
Zero counters Darlton in the hallways. He points a gun at him, asking what he did to Princess Euphemia.
Meanwhile the Black Knights are on standby are wondering what's going on in the stadium. It seems that Darlton had fainted, and Zero had made his escape. In the Gawain, C.C comments that Lelouch surprised her by going so far. He says that it wasn't him, or at least that he didn't intend to use the Geass. Meanwhile, the emperor is just laughing maniacally.
Schneizel is completely shocked at the incident, and Cornelia is rushing towards her Knightmare.
The Kyoto people comment that something is wrong, because this is far too different from how Euphemia acts. They say that for Japan they must live. Kaguya, the mysterious girl in the Kimono, asks them what the point is if they're the only ones left.
"If we don't move now, then what's the use of Kyoto?"
- Kaguya
We then see Suzaku launching in the Lancelot, saying that there's no way that Euphemia would order this kind of slaughter, and that he had to find her.
The Britannian army enters the stadium, Lelouch tells himself that he at least has to try and make use of Euphemia and what she's done now. Helicopters approach the Gawain, telling him to return the frame. Lelouch kills them without a thought. He then tells the Black Knights that Euphemia has now become their enemy. The Special Region Administrative Region Japan was just a trap. They are to break though, eliminate the Britannian forces, and save the Japanese people. He shouts at them to "Find and kill Euphemia!" as a tear runs from his Geass eye.
Rating: 5/5
Comments: First off, thanks gabbytay for writing this summary, I just added some stuff and did some editing. I think I was too generous with the rating, since there wasn't enough Kallen in this episode, but anyway. This episode just kept me at the edge of my seat. I like Euphemia (sorta) now, the fact that she resisted the Geass, that her compassion for the Japanese was so strong. I also feel like slapping Lelouch for being such a slow runner that he couldn't catch up with his sister in a big ballroom dress. And the part with C.C and Suzaku was interesting, the line "Or is it because he also..." makes me think that Suzaku will have the chance to control Geass too. Anyway, I'm seriously dying for the next episode. -emily
