Lelouch and C.C.

Lelouch Lamperouge
C.C.
The relationship between Lelouch and C.C. is between one of a Contracted and a Contractor. Lelouch is bound by the contract he made with C.C. The two have their destinys tangled, whether they like it or not.

Lelouch first helped an experimental girl escape from her captors, and C.C. saved this young Britannian boy's life, and gave him the power to change the world if he would fulfill a wish for her.

However, the two do not have a friendly relationship. C.C. can see the flaws in Lelouch's plots and emotions, and her proper arguments annoy Lelouch to no end. C.C. is also mischeivious, she seems to like causing troubles for Lelouch. Stealing his bed, wandering aroudn the campus and talking to Nunnally when her existance should be concealed.

However, C.C. cannot have Lelouch die, otherwise her wish will not be fulfilled. Where she likes to see Lelouch struggle sometimes, she will do anything to prevent any real danger to Lelouch's life. Many times does she pull Lelouch out of a life threatening situation. In Stage 7 for example, Lelouch is about to be found out as Zero. But C.C. enters the picture, masquaerading as Zero and saving Lelouch.

Stage 11 is where I see Lelouch and C.C. really forming a bond more that of business. Zero is at gun point. Lancelot has cornered him, and Lelouch has nowhere to go, no doubt going to be found out by the Britannians. C.C. comes into the picture, she touches Lancelot and shows some shocking images to Suzaku, stunning and confusing him. She tells Lelouch to escape, but Lelouch, whether he really cared about C.C. or did not want to repay this debt, did not leave. He touched her shoulder in protest but he started seeing some images of C.C.'s sad past. At this point, Suzaku has gone berserk and Lancelot starts destroying the landscape. Rubble and debri fly everywhere, but C.C. stands infront of Lelouch, protecting him from the deadly shower of rocks.

Lelouch could have run away, but he took an unconcious C.C. to a cave. If Lelouch had left C.C. there, it wouldn't matter, since C.C. would not die and would heal in due time anyway. But his pride told him to take the girl who had saved his life numerous times. Or perhaps he actually cared about her.

Through the images of C.C.'s past that were shown to him, Lelouch knows C.C.'s name. C.C. gets emotional and starts crying, she has forgotten so much of her past and names don't mean anything. Lelouch, in an attempt to change the subject to cheer her up perhaps, says "Thank you" for giving him the Geass, for saving his life, for everything.

C.C. is shocked but happy, she has never been thanked before. Lelouch could be the first person in her memory to have thanked her. She asks him to say her name with warmth and kindness from the bottom of his heart. Lelouch agrees, and although he apparently prounounced it oddly, and it was devoid of kindness and sincerity, C.C. appreciates it.

This episode is a giant leap for the relationship between Lelouch and C.C.. Lelouch becomes more important to C.C., as his kinder side shines through and C.C. honestly appreciates it. And even Lelouch, openly states to Kallen that C.C. is an important comrade, and she becomes a larger part of his Order of the Black Knights.

A famous quote from C.C. in Stage 10, "Why is the snow white? Because it forgot what colour it is," a metaphor referring to herself. In Stage 11, Lelouch tells C.C. that he doesn't know why the snow is white, but snow is beautiful and he doesn't hate it. Lelouch and C.C. have grown feelings other than partners in their own different goals, but they appreciate one another for qualities other than their powers or their use.
